The historical park of Villa Durazzo is spread over three hectares in a panoramic location in the city centre. Its origins are due to the Durazzo family, who in the seventeenth century built the large villa in the Alessi style. The two families that succeeded each other, the Centurione in the nineteenth century and Chierichetti in the XX century, enlarged the park which today is composed of three main areas. The “Citrus Grove”, located on the terrace in front of the sea, is the oldest nucleus and dates back to the Durazzo family who, with orange, lemon and grapefruit plants, wanted to create green scenes from the sea to the villa. The “Italian Garden” is characterized by the geometric lines of box and myrtle hedges and by numerous Cycas plants, in male and female specimens, as well as several varieties of nineteenth-century camellias of rare beauty. The “Romantic English Woods” that roll down the hill slope and abound with numerous species of exotic plants, statues and flower beds.

The romantic features include the Secret Garden, the Virna Lisi rose garden and the yard with typical Ligurian mosaic cobblestone paving called “a risseu“. The villa was built in 1678, at the behest of Marchioness Durazzo, and hosts an important collection of paintings by Genoese masters, antique furniture, elegant Murano chandeliers and grit flooring. The inner rooms and outdoor terraces are available for weddings, receptions, gala dinners, corporate events, and photographic and cinema sets.

Services: Coffee House, guided tours by appointment, specialized educational workshops, event location, wedding ceremony, photo set. It is possible to organize lunch for groups with tasting of regional products.

Tickets: admission to the Park free, entrance ticket to the Villa: adults € 5.50, children (8-14 years) € 3.00, groups (from 15 people) € 4.00.
