The Park of Pallavicini in Pegli was constructed between 1840 and 1846, following architect Michele Canzio’s design, which was commissioned by Marquis Ignazio Alessandro Pallavicini. It’s considered a masterpiece in the field of historical–romantic gardens both in Italy and Europe.
The garden covers an almost 9-hectare area. The visit without a guide takes about 2 hours, but visitors are welcome to stay inside the park as long as they wish.
The unique feature of this garden is that it’s designed as a theatrical plot, enriched with esoteric undertones. This transforms the visit into not only a historical, cultural, and botanical experience but also into a true meditative and philosophical journey.
The path unfolds in a series of scenes, featuring lakes, brooks, waterfalls, garden buildings, furniture and the oldest Italian collection of camellias (some of which are more than 100 years old), enchanting everyone with their special flowering during spring.
It’s worth mentioning the precious botanical species, including the majestic Camphora tree and the Cedar of Lebanon, both situated alongside the lake, the centuries-old araucaria and cork oaks, the Rosa banksiae, and the cherry laurels.
